new roses

My new roses are here! Now, if it would just stop raining long enough to weed the garden and get them in the ground.

I bought them from Chamblee's Rose Nursery in Texas over teh internets. I bought four roses: New Dawn (climber, for the north wall of my house),  Carefree Sunshine (yellow shrub for front yard), Gertrude Jekyll (Ausboard,  pink climber for backyard), and Aloha (I think, but whatever the fourth one is, it's a pink climber for the backyard).

I thought the prices for the roses, especially now that I see their sizes, was extremely reasonable. Shipping was a bit high for each rose (about $5), but it worked out to be comparable to other nursery sites I've seen. Plus, the roses look so healthy!

I've never even thought to buy plants over the internet. I'll have to keep that in mind next summer when I have a place of my own. I'm glad they arrived safely and score on the deal!

Thanks! I use Dave's Garden Watchdog to vet any place before I buy plants b/c there are some scam places out there. You can get screaming deals through some popular places, but the plants can also come half dead. Love your blog!
