There appears to be a wormhole at work, because Blogger and Blogspot are working! If only I had super cute pictures or some fun craft project to report, but alas, nothing.
Instead, all I have is this post at One Pearl Button starred because of the beautiful embroidery she did.
Oh, and about a thousand blogs with Anthropologie clothes. Why must they be so pricey?

I had some time to kill before heading off to work, so I thought I'd sit down and surf teh internets a bit this morning and update teh blog a bit, too.

I updated my pic in the right-side toolbar with my new shoes. Please ignore the spot on the left shoe- my ever loving dogs stepped on my brand new shoes before I even wore them outside. Oh, dogs. Those snazzy looking sneaks are Nike Frees, V4 5.0. They are supposed to simulate barefoot running. They aren't quite barefoot- my foot does heel strike quite a bit, but they are super lightweight and very comfy. I don't even have to wear socks!
I had to order new shoes b/c my trusty old New Balance 768s were done for. I got them two weeks before my marathon, so there is a lot of wear and tear on them. It was to the point where I'd rather stand barefoot than wear my shoes (don't think I didn't do that, too!). My ortho doc wanted to put me in super super cushy orthotic shoes, but I did some reading on the internets and decided minimalist footwear and working out barefoot would be a better option for my plantar fasciitis. I read it on the internet...it has to be true, right?
So after a few weeks of walking barefoot on the treadmill (in socks!!), doing my lifting at home barefoot, and walking in my Frees, my feet do feel stronger and better. I keep second guessing myself- what if I had gotten these shoes last year or started walking barefoot last spring, but at least I'm finding it out now. However, it's easy to overdo it (who, me??), so I am taking a few days off from the walking. I did quite a bit ofhiking walking in West Virginia...possibly in flip flops...twice...in a gorge...Just sayin'.

monkeying around at the fair
Hello, friends! It has been a while since I guest-posted on Auntie L's blog. Since then, I have been very busy- spending a great deal of my time dancing with zebras, walking pet dogs, and monitoring the construction crews on my street. It's a rough job, but someone has to do it!
A few weeks ago, I took the Zookeepers, Grandpa T and Auntie L to the State Fair. They were very excited to try out all kinds of food, like pizza cones and funnel cake. I cannot recommend the pork burger enough. Delicious! I even shared with Mom!

The Fair is not all fun and games, although there were some games, like running from storms, sliding down slides head first, and screaming loudly. Still, I was able to spend some time on important scientific research.

Observing giant rabbits- bigger than a Monkey!

I say, I say, look at these chicks!

Grandpa T and I observed this sheep...goat? from afar while it got a haircut. I don't know what that's like, as my blonde mane is always perfectly coiffed.
I also observed baby cows, large horses, and a giant smelly pig, but my photographer did not document those interactions. (Sad Trombone sound) I look forward to next year for more scientific research and pork burgers!!

what's blooming wednesday...and thursday...and friday...and every day
I know, I know. I've been radio silence for a long time. Again. I have had major computer issues, dear reader(s). Work blocks blogspot, so I had to blog at home. But I couldn't get my pictures on my Mac b/c the camera cord doesn't work. Then, work UNblocked blogspot for, like, five minutes but did block Flickr. It was a perfect storm of stupid computers.
On the upside, I have lots of these:

I bought the seeds from RareSeeds.com, which says they are a white scallop, "A very ancient native American heirloom squash, grown by the Northern Indians for hundreds of years, this type was depicted by Europeans back to 1591, and one of the best tasting and yielding varieties still around today!"
They were not kidding. I got about five zukes out of my zucchini plants, one creepy looking cuke, a smattering of tomatoes but a metric TON of these. There are about a dozen STILL on the plant right now. I have no idea how to cook them, either! They didn't seem to bake up well, and they look pretty bland and smell like pumpkin.
Maybe I can carve them for Halloween??
