THIS is what I want

This is exactly how I wanted my holiday decorations, crafting, and presents to look like. Can I steal her house? Jealousy. Right here. I bought the Martha Stewart Living Holiday magazine back in November, and immediately ran out to buy a hole punch to make ball ornaments. Did I make any? No. I did, however, amass a good collection of Christmas cards so I can make ornaments for next year.
I am really loving the blue, green and white color palette for Christmas decorations, but the stores were not this year. Maybe next year it will be en vogue again.

ode to the pincushion

I was reading CraftApple's post today on collecting things, and she has begun collecting pincushions. It turns out I need to start collecting them to, as my superdog Bristow has eaten my only pincushion! RIP to my little red tomato with the little red strawberry needle holder. I've had this pincushion since 6th grade, when I got my very own sewing things for Home Ec class. It probably still has my name on the bottom!

I came home Christmas Eve from work, walked into my bedroom and wondered if my sister had been drilling things in my room- there was sawdust all over the floor! (This would be so much better with a picture. But I'm at work, the mess is at home). Bristow must have grabbed it out of a craft tote when no one was watching him. I checked him out, and he looked fine. He just chewed a hole straight into my pincushion, leaving a sawdust trail all over his bed.

So now I need a new pincushion. What do you fill them with?

I can't remember how I originally found CraftApple, but I bookmarked it for some of her tutorials, especially the quilted cards and quilted book covers.

my new crafty blog

Starting today I am now a crafty-blogger. I am inspired daily by other crafty women out there, and want to be able to document my own projects. Unfortunately, I haven't uploaded anything to Flickr since September 4th, so no new pictures here! I will have to take some pics of the few things I made this Christmas season. I had grand plans, grand plans for homemade Christmas. And I finished one gift. You could say three, since I made two simple knit scarves for my cousins but weren't really Christmas presents, more "just because" presents. I finished one scarf (from Last Minute Knitted Gifts) for my friend Stephanie out of Malabrigo and some other carry-along yarn that turned SUPER fuzzy after blocking. I think it's pretty itchy, Steph, sorry!

I have also been slaving along on a scarf for my grandmother that I did not finish. Picutres to follow. Maybe, if I ever finish it.
